   Testimonial

I just wanted to pass along some feedback on the power catwalk we purchased with the rig and the general dealings with your company. I was very happy that you put the time and effort in to work closely with your customer to develop this product. The end results show that it was fully worth the effort. The catwalk has been holding up great in an extremely difficult environment where it is seeing daily use. I know that the crews are happy with the equipment and easily learned it’s operations.” Lorne Thompson, P. Eng., Engineering and Construction Manager, AKITA Drilling Ltd., Nisku, Alberta

   Product Highlights

Productivity: Safe, efficient operation and minimal downtime maximizes productivity of the rig. A wireless remote control handset is used to operate the equipment, with a backup manual switch bank positioned at the end of the catwalk. The Catwalk can take a tubular from the main deck of the sub floor in under a minute. With features such as switch adjustable leveling jacks provided at the rig end, the catwalk is designed for rapid set-up and tear-down.

Safety: North Rig’s Power Catwalks allow a drilling tubular to be moved from pipe racks on either side of the catwalk table to the rig floor, without being manually handled. Tubulars are loaded onto the pipe racks on either side of the catwalk table and transferred one at a time to the centre of the catwalk table. The tubular is moved from the catwalk table up to the rig sub floor. Unloading occurs simply by reversing this process. This system is a much safer and faster method of picking up and laying down tubular than is traditional. The pipe racks are hydraulically height adjustable to ensure that tubulars roll onto the centre of the catwalk table during pick-up and away from it during the lay down process. North Rigs’ catwalks have many carefully designed safety features, such as counter balanced valves in all cylinders. Consideration has been given to both operational and transportation safety.

Durability: North Rig’s catwalks have been designed to be extremely robust and offer many years of service. The main longitudinal truss of the catwalk base is an exceptionally strong single piece. North Rig’s equipment is available with optional hot or cold environment upgrades.

Serviceability: Designed for ease of maintenance with easily accessible parts and readily available common components.
